Obstacle Course

Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department has an obstacle course that is portable and be setup almost anywhere. The design of this obstacle course allows kids of all age to practice different safe habits that could help save their lives in a fire. The course starts with the kids pretending to sleep in their bed. After they hear the smoke detector alarm they get up and crawl through tubes that are designed to mimic crawling low in smoke. After the tubes they must open a common type window and climb through it. Once they climb through the window the kids must run to the mailbox (universal meeting place).

This is only one of many things that we offer to help educate children. You can contact Meredith Hawes if you have any further questions.
