Captain Tony Posey

Capt. Tony Posey joined the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department during the summer of 2003. As a new firefighter, he sought out to gain as much experience and education as he could to help his community and fellow firefighters. Capt. Posey was assigned as a paid per call firefighter to Station # 9 on High Lake Road. While at Station # 9 as a paid per call member, Capt. Posey served as Engineer, Safety Officer, Lieutenant, and Captain.

Capt. Posey holds certifications as a Firefighter I & II, EMT-Basic, Haz-Mat Technician, Ice Rescue Technician, Water Rescue Ops., Incident Safety Officer, & Fire Officer I, II, & III, among others. Capt. Posey has also completed classes through the National Fire Academy / FEMA, both online and on campus.

Capt. Posey has also been instrumental in the formation of the Metro Search & Rescue team. The team is responsible for Search & Rescue operations on land, water, and ice within the Metro Fire District.

Capt. Posey is also involved in public education with the department, as well as helping teach new fire recruits at the local fire academy.

Capt. Posey has worked full time for the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department since May of 2008. He currently oversees the operations as the Captain of Metro Stations 1 & 9.

Capt. Posey strongly believes in an "Open Door" policy our Fire Stations, and always welcomes the general public to visit. "I highly encourage every citizen to stop by and visit one of our stations and see the investment you've made with your tax dollars. We would be happy to give tours and answer any questions you may have."
